The proposal was submitted to Malaysia Ministry of Education (KPM) and calls for an extensive review and improvement to the Lecturers and Fellows pay scheme. The new scheme is on par with the UNDP Key Performance Index (KPI) and Human Development Index (HDI).

The proposed overhaul covers improvements and consistencies in pay, allowances and remuneration to academic staff at all levels. This move aims to enhance scholarship and improve the welfare of the academics in often marginalised Malaysian public universities. Consideration by KPM is important as recognition of the role and contribution of academics at the helm of Malaysia’s development and transformation.
