Centralized Vehicle Monitoring Management System (CVMMS) is a powerful tool that can provide the state government of Sarawak with modules designed to simplify the vehicle management problems. It aims to provide the ability to track multi-departmental vehicle usage pattern to meet the needs of maintenance and resource allocation. CVMMS combines the GPS (Geo Positioning Service) and GSM (Global System for Mobile) network capabilities to provide functionalities such as the real-time vehicle location mapping, the vehicle routing information, the automated alerting and the customizable reporting from the tracking databases.
This application allows a single point centralized monitoring of all vehicles with the portable GPS/GSM system installed. As long as the vehicle is ignited, its location will be reported to the central monitoring system and the tracked information for all vehicles such as vehicle position at a particular time, duration to complete a journey, and time duration a vehicle spent at a particular location and etc will be kept in the centralized databases which can be further utilized by other system modules for their respective purposes. The monitoring and tracking do not required human intervention and it works 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. The four basic functionalities proposed can be further customized to meet the specific requirements of the Sarawak government.
The CVMMS incorporates real-time vehicle tracking, route management, route scheduling, driver identification, real-time live reporting and retrospective reporting will be able to assist in not only driving down the overall maintenance cost but to put all vehicles in effective utilization.
