Postgraduate

Faculty of Applied and Creative Arts offers a broad spectrum of studies in the area of applied and creative arts for Master and PhD programme. Both programme, the Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy in Arts are by research. The faculty’s research specialisation and niche areas are:

MASTER OF ARTS BY RESEARCH (MA11)

Requirement for Master of Arts

A Bachelor degree of high quality with a minimum CGPA of 3.0 from any recognised local/foreign university and approved by the Senate of the University. (Applicants with a CGPA of less than 3.0 but with outstanding relevant working experience may also apply).

Duration of Study for Master of Arts

The normal duration of study for a Master's degree (by research) is two (2) years for full-time study or four (4) years for part-time study.

 

DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY DEGREE (PhD) BY RESEARCH (PA11)

Requirement for PhD

A Master degree of high quality in an area relevant to the student’s proposed area of research from any recognised local/foreign university and approved by the Senate of the University.

Duration of Study for PhD

The normal duration of study for a PhD by research is three (3) years full-time and six (6) years part-time.

Application to Study

Applications to study in a postgraduate programme can be made anytime during the year and will be processed as and when all of the relevant documents are received. Admissions are ongoing basis for each year and divided into 2 semesters which is on March to September and September to March.

Application can be made via online (strongly advised) at Centre for Graduate Studies (CGS) and prospective candidates should also mail copies of supporting documents to CGS. All applications are subject to the approval by Faculty Postgraduate Committee and University.

Academic Year

The academic year is divided into two (2) semesters. Semester I is from September to March, Semester II is from March to September. Postgraduate students are required to register their candidacy at the beginning of each semester.

English Proficiency

For international students, a minimum IELTS Score of 6.0 or its equivalent (eg.TOEFL-525; TOEFL Computer Test -196; TOEFL Internet Test 69-70) is required.
