Geo-environment includes components of geosphere, hydrosphere, and biosphere that constitute the ecosphere. Almost all physical events and activities, natural or man-made that happen in the ecosphere have an impact on the geo-environment. The natural and man-made hazards particularly have an adverse impact on the geo-environment and sustainable development. Geo-environmental engineering contributes to mitigation of the impact by the hazards and the remediation of contaminated land and water.
