YBhg Datuk Ir Hamzah Hasan
Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) Malaysia Chairman

Datuk Ir. Hamzah Hasan is currently Chairman of the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB), Malaysia. Datuk Ir. Hamzah Hasan obtained his Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering (Honours) in the year 1975 from Glasgow University and Master of Science (Construction Management) from Loughborough University, United Kingdom in 1987. He started his career as a Civil Engineer in the Public Works Department (JKR) effective from 1975. Since then he has served the Department for 23 years until 1998. In 1998, he joined Ahmad Zaki Resources Berhad (AZRB), a public listed company in Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange as Group Managing Director. With the vast experience in both the Public and Private sector, Datuk Ir. Hamzah Hasan was once again called to serve the nation by the Minister of Works Malaysia. In 2003, he was appointed as Chief Executive Officer of the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB), Malaysia and on 1st January 2011 he was appointed as the Chairman of the Board.


Professor Simon Beecham
School of Natural and Built Environments, University of South Australia (UniSA)

Simon Beecham is currently Professor of Sustainable Water Resources Engineering and Head of the School of Natural and Built Environments at the University of South Australia. Professor Simon Beecham is also a Board Director for Water Quality Research Australia Limited (WQRA). WQRA undertakes collaborative research of national application on drinking water quality, recycled water and wastewater management. Professor Simon’s research interests centre around the effects of climate change on total water cycle management (TWCM). In the past two years he has been a chief investigator on four Australian Research Council (ARC) Discovery and Linkage grants including DP0877707, where he examined climate variability and climate change in the Murray Darling Basin. He is currently Project Leader of the largest climate change project in South Australia, which is coordinated through the Goyder Institute for Water Research (GIWR). He has also been Australia’s representative on the IWA’s International Group on Urban Rainfall since 1998.


Professor Tan Kiang Hwee
Department of Civil Engineering, National University of Singapore (NUS)

Professor K. H. Tan has been a faculty member of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the National University of Singapore (NUS) since July 1981. He is currently Director of the Centre for Advanced Materials and Structures in the same department.  He obtained his doctorate degree from The University of Tokyo, Japan in 1985.  He specializes in the area of structural concrete and composites. Professor Tan has published more than 200 refereed technical papers, a book entitled "Beams with Openings: Analysis & Design" (CRC Press LLC, USA, 1999), and edited the proceedings of the 6th International Symposium on FRP Reinforcement for Concrete Structures (World Scientific, 2003). He is Board Member of The Asia-Pacific Association for Public Safety Science and Technology, and also Council Member of the International Institute for FRP Composites in Construction.  He is a registered professional engineer in Singapore and a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers, Singapore (IES), for which he served as Honorary Secretary from 2004 to 2006.
