TEACHING

To produce doctors who will be able to handle Orthopaedics conditons wherever they are posted in the country, with:

  • adequate knowledge of basic sciences and clinical skills
  • the ability to diagnose common Orthopaedics problems;
  • propose relevant investigations and outline the plan of management
  • the ability to recognise Orthopaedics emergencies, prioritise needs and institute first-line treatment
  • the understanding of limitations of working in a district hospital and knowing when to refer a patient to a secondary care centre.

SERVICE

  • To provide and strengthen Orthopaedics subspecialty services at the Sarawak General Hospital

RESEARCH

  • To be in the forefront of research into Orthopaedics conditions especially in the fields of Paediatric Orthopaedics, Sports Injuries and Musculoskeletal Tumours.
