Research Interests and Projects

Academic Research:

  • Principal researcher for “Life time trauma among adolescent: A cross-sectional study among the four major ethnic groups in Sarawak”; study was funded by Centre of Psychotraumatology, University of Southern Denmark with total funding RM28,000. Project will be completed in February 2013.
  • Principal researcher for “Marital Conflict and Child Mental Health: The East Malaysia Experience”; study was funded by UNIMAS Short Term Grant with total amount of funding RM 29000. Project was completed April 2010.
  • Principal researcher for “Prevalence of PTSD among Tsunami Victims in Kuala Muda, Kedah Malaysia”; study was funded by UNIMAS Short Term Grant with total amount of funding RM39000. Project was completed April 2010.
  • Co-researchers for “Obesity among secondary school children in Sarawak”; study was funded by UNIMAS Short Term Grant with total amount of funding RM3,000.  Project was completed December 2010.
  • Co-researchers for “Chronic Fatigue among rural population”; study was funded by UNIMAS Short Term Grant with total amount of funding RM20,000. Project was completed in 2005.
  • Co-researchers for “Anxiety and depression in the primary health care clinics and the role of complementary and alternative medicine”; study was funded by UNIMAS Short Term Grant with total amount of funding RM6520.  Project was completed August 2004.

Contract Research:

  • Principle Researcher for “A Descriptive Analysis of Burnout and Mental Distress among Oil Gas Workers from Three Different Departments”; Project was completed in 2011.
  • Principle Researcher for “Preliminary Study of Stress among Oil Gas Workers in Bintulu, Sarawak”; Project was completed in 2008.
  • Principle Researcher for “Stress and Fatigues Assessment for Temana Offshore Workers: Evaluation between the 2x2 weeks mode and 1x1 week mode”. Project was completed in 2008.
