Research Interests

My principal interests lie with monitoring the global climate systems and utilization of new methods integrating the multi-platform (satellite, shipboard & moorings) approach to observing dynamics of large scale circulation. Previously, I had worked on integrating multiplatform ocean-color sensors (SeaWiFS & CASI), as well as the RAPID-MOC and MOCHA transatlantic moorings.

Some recent research includes studies of western boundary long term structure and energetics. I was also involved with observations of the dynamics of westward propagating features and their effects to mean ocean circulation as well as their vertical structure.

My passion lies with studying issues linked to global climate change and endemic cause-effects-solutions within the SEA region and Malaysia especially. Upcoming research within the aquatic scope includes baseline datasets (water quality) for local riverine systems. I also intend to expand research into multi-platform observations of coastal and offshore circulation within the SEA region.

Recently, I have been involved with:
- Semporna Marine Ecological Expedition (SMEE2010)
- SHIVA
- CTI Coastal Learning and Adaptation Network (CTI-CLAN) for Climate Change Adaptation (CCA)
