Research Interest

My research focuses on every aspect of degradation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and PAHs-like compounds such as carbazole. Although the usage of new eco friendly materials and acts of proper disposal and recycling reduce pollution, long period of PAHs and PAHs-like compounds usage had led to the accumulation of these compounds in the environment. Targeting marine bacteria helps us understand not just understand the severity of sea pollution but also reveals the many unknown details about the marine ecosystem.Research activities include:

  1. Isolation and identification PAHs and PAHs-like compound degrading bacteria from marine environments
  2. Isolation and characterization genes involved in degradation of PAHs and PAHs-like compounds
  3. Characterization of key enzymes involved in degradation of PAHs and PAHs-like compounds
  4. Study the relationship between structures and functions of enzymes
