KOTA SAMARAHAN: There is a huge business potential to be tapped from the development of creative arts and designs in Sarawak.

According to Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Office (Bumiputera Entrepreneur Development) Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais, there is a high demand for creative products, which young people should venture into.

“The continuous inspiration of new graduates in the field of arts and designs can help to develop the country’s economy through various perspectives; whether film, photography, visual arts, animation, fashion, designs and design technology, music, arts, arts management and others,” he said before officiating at Cetusan Inspirasi Pelajar Tahun Akhir (Cipta) 2014 at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) campus here yesterday, which featured works of final year students of Art and Design Faculty of Unimas.

“Cipta exhibition will be the platform for you to display your inspirations, and Unimas and Malaysia can be a hub for your works of arts and design,” he added.

He added that the government would continue to provide grants and financial assistance to young people in business, saying his ministry had RM100 million of such funding. Unimas head of Registrar Abu Bakar Ibrahim said the exhibition was the effort of lecturers and graduates.
