Sebayor Medical Centre not only aids in the treatment of such ailments but is also a one-stop health care centre offering a comprehensive range of services to meet the different needs of individuals.

Managed by Sebayor Holdings Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary company wholly owned by Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas), the centre (formerly Pusat Rawatan Harian Unimas) is run by a medical director and a general manager with the support of the resident medical officer and visiting specialists from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, all of whom are registered with the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC).

“We have a team of 20 reputable visiting medical specialists who are not only qualified but also experienced in their respective fields,” said the medical centre’s general manager Robert Malong.

He added that the idea of forming Sebayor Medical Centre, which began its operations in November last year, was mooted in 2005 before being given the green light two years later.

“The task force committee from the university’s Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and Sebayor Holdings Sdn Bhd implemented this comprehensive concept of a one-stop medical centre in line with their mission to create a healthier future for patients.”

According to Robert, the centre prides itself on three things — high-quality medical services, immediate access to these services and specialists and affordable prices.

“Our team of dedicated and experienced doctors and specialists are assisted by state-of-the-art medical facilities in a personalised and friendly environment. They are also supported by dedicated nursing and paramedical staff in all disciplines of medicine.

“In addition to a GP, the visiting specialists include the public health specialist, paediatrician, family medicine specialist, obstetrics and gynaecology specialist, urologist, pathologist, radiologist, haemotologist, a general surgeon and orthopaedic surgeon who will perform minor surgeries at the centre, also equipped with an operating theatre,” he said.

Patients seeking health screening services can do so at the centre, fully equipped with medical facilities for x-ray, mammography, ultrasonography, colonoscopy, gastroscopy, cystoscopy and many more.

“We also offer pathology and medical laboratory services comprising cytopathology (PAP smear, body fluid cytology), haematology, urine analysis and microscopy,” Robert revealed.

He pointed out that health screening services were also available in packages catering to the individual needs of patients.

“For instance, students requiring medical check-up before entering colleges and universities aboard can do so at our centre with the College & Varsity Screening Package which includes a physical examination, chest x-ray, urine analysis and morphine and cannabinoids testing.

“Other medical check-up packages consist of the Foreign Worker Screening Package, Senior Citizen Package and a Pilgrimage Medical Package,” Robert said, adding that with Sebayor’s vision to provide an exemplary paperless high-quality day-care outpatient services where trusted professional care is the priority, a second branch in Kota Samarahan is expected to be set up by early next year.

With a team of professional medical staff and the latest medical equipment all under one roof, Sebayor Medical Centre is on the right track to helping Sarawakians better manage their health through first point of contact for diagnosis and treatment.
